The snowboarders have nothing on our girls, who now carry the “bad boy” image for the Winter Olympics. They caused a bit of a ruckus, but you can’t fault them for showing how Canadians party. IOC to investigate Canadian women’s celebration. After being told of the celebrations by a reporter, Gilbert Felli, the IOC’s executive director of Olympic [...]

We are for the time being on top of the leaderboard for most playings of the national anthem. Our anthem has been played more than any other, with two days of competition remaining. We are in gold medal matches for hockey, curling, and long track team pursuit on Saturday. We also have two teams in the top six for the final two heats of 4 man bobsled. "People you know they can't believe" Can

Let's hope the men's team can follow the Women's Gold Medal Win! I am confident the majority of Canadians who were watching, cheering on our ladies last night, will not require an  APOLOGY. I DO NOT accept the double standard, how male athletes are excused for much worse behaviour on a regular basis. We can blame this on our tabloid style media for acting like bottom feeders AGAIN.

Regular readers of this blog will know that I've been pretty critical of the Olympic Games. Not because I necessarily dislike the Games themselves ( although I think the IOC kinda jumped the shark when they awarded the Games to China ), but generally because they've been a source of misinformation, disinformation, over-spending, over-regulating, and over-all bad governance in the Province over t

The Canadian pride at these Olympics is outstanding. Our athletes are doing better than we could have hoped for, and the media is whining. What a bunch of do nothing babies. It appears that a lot of the empty seats at events is because the media is staying in the brier patch instead of actually going to the events. It appears the media have prorogued the Olympics. Own the Podium is being revved up

We didn’t start this fight with the Taliban. But if we remain true to our tradition as Canadians and responsible members of the international community, we’re going to help finish it — notwithstanding those commentators who seem to think that we ought to put down our weapons at the behest of the IOC or VANOC [...] Related posts:Combating Withdrawal Symptoms If 30 nations pul

The offensive “logo” in question. Photo: REUTERS/Shaun Best According to Reuters news service, American goaltender Jonathan Quick has to remove the slogan “Support Our Troops” because it’s in contravention of Olympic rules on political propaganda. That’s right folks, the IOC is an equal opportunity non-partisan organization that wouldn’t want to upset the

A few days ago I wrote an argument for returning the modern Olympic games to the ancient Greek tradition of having athletes compete naked. Since then I have learned that Canada's women's biathlon team, currently competing in Vancouver, has published a nude calendar to raise funds for their sport. For those of you who enjoy pictures of fit naked women tastefully posed with guns, you can order a

Personally, I have no use for the Olympics and can’t wait for the IOC to leave town taking its 5-ring circus with it. Having said that, there is no excuse for this, “Vancouver Police are engaged with a group of more than 200 masked protesters near Granville and Georgia who are marching through the downtown core, [...]

Chatelaine magazine has an on-line photo spread of six of Canada's male winter Olympic athletes in various stages of undress. The picture at right is of skier Kyle Nissen, skis strageically placed. So here's an idea - lets start staging the Olympic games with all nude athletes, just like they did in ancient Greece. I think it would do wonders for TV ratings. The ancient Greek Olympic games were

At least, don’t try to get here from the USA. You’ll be turned back (like this guy was) by border agents who seem to have been instructed that merely opposing the Olympics is a threat to public order. Remind me again, who cuts our border agents’ checks: the feds or the IOC? Related posts:Not Politically Correct About [...] Related posts:Not Politica

Despite the imposition of a code of silence on Mr. Rebagliati by the federal Liberal Party, for whom he plans to run in the next election, the former Olympian spoke openly about his desire to see marijuana legalized."Prohibition didn't work; this isn't working," he said after running with the torch, which some have even said resembles a giant joint. Dave Zirin on the Olympics:“I mean if there could be a way we could de-link this idea of an international festival of sports with the IOC, and let the IOC become an absolute relic of history, that would be something that I would support very happily,” he said.

An interesting editorial in the NP. Ezra has long made the point that Canada's official Jews are not doing anyone much good these days. They are the chief supporters of the hrc thought police. Now this. As someone who has contributed to B'nai Brith in the past, I don't think I will ever donate to them again. It's enough already. Now compare all this to the current controversy over the issue of

Do you ever wake up in the morning and open up the newspaper to see a story where you half expect Ashton Kusher to come running around the corner with a film crew? Well female ski jumpers have now been compared to Jews suffering in the Holocaust. Wow. What do you say to something like that? Look I am on the record saying that I think the sport should be in the Winter Olympics, but just because ver

Liberal Joyce Murray (Vancouver Quadra) and New Democrat Libby Davies (Vancouver East) want the PM to contact International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge and personally intervene, where the PM has no business getting involved, to resolve a dispute over the exclusion of female ski jumpers at next month's Winter Olympics.Yes, these 2 MP's, one a Liberal and the other an NDP, want the P
