Luksic steps down to pursue career opportunity

Dec 04, 2009

Ivan Luksic has announced his resignation as federal Liberal candidate in Niagara West- Glanbrook.
Mr. Luksic made his announcement to the Nov. 18 meeting of the Association's Board, saying he has made the decision to resign "reluctantly" but that a recent promotion to a senior management position with a major, Canadianowned corporation, made the move necessary.

"I wish to thank the members of the riding association, who have supported me in the nomination process," said Mr. Luksic. "The riding organization in Niagara West-Glanbrook is very strong and this will benefit our next candidate immensely."

"Although we are disappointed that Ivan will no longer be our candidate, we wish him all the best in his professional pursuits and are pleased that he will continue to play a strong role in our riding and region," said Andrew Iler, Niagara West-Glanbrook Federal Liberal Riding Association President.

my guess this is just the first of several liberal candidates who are going to find other things to do now and not end up running for the liberals .

Niagara West-Glanbrook has quickly become a safe blue riding.
I would imagine a lot of candidates in ridings that use to be in play will walk away because the sweeping popularity of Iggy in Ontario did not happen as expected,

And with Rae next in line...
I don't think the Liberal surge in Ontario is coming anytime soon.

They'll dig up some body to run in their hopeless ridings. Reminds of the CA/PCPC days - with no slight to any leader at the time intended.
