A great anniversary to celebrate!

The fall of the Berlin Wall represented a victory of our Western cultural way of life (individual freedom, liberty, rule of law, right to property) over Soviet Communism, which sought to wipe out all traces of individual freedom and liberty.

Communism was forcefully imposed on eastern Germany and the other countries of Central and Eastern Europe after 1945. East Germany had no legitimate reason to exist other than to be a puppet of the Soviet Union. East Germany was only sustained as a result of Soviet aid and the fact that thousands of Soviet troops occupied the country.
When individuals were given the choice they rejected the foreign imposed communist system in favour of their traditional cultural values of individual freedom.

I am proud of Canada’s military contribution to NATO in the defence of Western Europe and the Western way of life during the Cold War.

All Canadians should be celebrating this victory of freedom!
