| This is more of a what if scenario but if there was no western Canada & lets say Quebec was still part of Canada without a Bloc would this be a nightmare scenario for conservatives in the east? And without western Canada would Atlantic Canadians have no where to migrate too? |

| If there wasn't Western Canada, I think there would be a greater desire for Quebec to leave and also Ontario. I'd imagine that Ontario would have a good likely hood of joining Western Canada instead of staying with Quebec. |

Possible, but don't forget that Toronto's Mayor Miller has mused about essentially being a "province" all by themselves. In a way, that is kind of a nice thought ....... take away Queen's Park and all the various well paying government jobs that are located there for the Province of ONTARIO (NOT Toronto!!!) and see how well the socialist city copes on their own with no provincial funding. Not to mention that they will more than likely bankrupt themselves by trying to tax all the "imported" natural resources they would need to sustain the manufacturing industry there......assuming they don't relocate. The idea of relocating the provincial capital to someplace like Kingston, and then building a wall around the great socialist state of Toronto and then sitting back to see how long it lasts is an intriguing idea. |

Given the volume of MMPs and MPs of Toronto, the city effectively is a province...
Toronto: a province which depends on others to prop up their socialist policies, which whines incessantly for more, which is self-absorbed and self-righteous, which consumes more than it produces...
If Toronto decided to become unilingual French, it would be Quebec... except that Quebec actually contributes to our cultural mosaic whereas Toronto soils it.

If the west left the Atlantic provinces would consider leaving as well because without the west the east coast has an even less of a voice in political matters. For Atlantic Canadians if those of us thought it's bad now it gets even worse then that without the west. So hang on to your seats, relax, & watch the implosion.

Essentially your saying the same thing happens if Quebec was to leave & start the domino effect. With the only difference that the order of the domino effect would be in a different order. |

As an Ontarian, I would prefer seeing Ontario join the U.S. particularly New York State on our southern border. We have more in common with them than the anti-english Quebec to our east and the distant western provinces.
I believe that most of Ontario's trade is north-south anyway and our oil imports come from abroad. |

Quebec and the east coast provinces get their oil and gas from overseas.
Ontario gets it from Canadian sources.
If the west left Canada would become so left it would be unbearable. I'd consider moving to the west or the USA.... |

I believe that Ontario only gets its natural gas from Canadian sources as there is no oil pipeline from the west to Ontario. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I look forward to the day that Ontario becomes part of the U.S. so we dont have to put up with all that whinning coming out of Quebec & (Danny Millions) Newfoundland. |

ba ba bing someone has taken my old role away from me. Anyways in the current political climate & the tightening of the border it's looking alot less likely that this will happen, my fight has shifted accordingly towards the creation of the second American Republic. By any chance any affiliation with Ontario, USA, Annexation.ca, & Jonathan Wheeler? |

The U.S. still would love to have their Manifest Dynasty come true. If Canada were to split up, the U.S. would more than willing pick up the pieces to create an even larger and dominant nation.
However, I think we all need to stop this talk about Quebec separating, or the West separating, because it will NOT happen. |

| Personally, I think it's inevitable that Quebec will separate (and that may be a good thing for both of us). |

I can't foresee any Canadian provinces separating in my generation. The only provinces that could possibly separate would be the western provinces.
Keep in mind things aren't that bad in Canada. CATO recently praised our country and argued we likely have a brighter future ahead of us than the United States if we continue to support free trade and liberalize our economy further.

Look at corporate taxes.
For those of us who are dissapointed about Harper's deficit, keep in mind we still are in a much better situation compared to the rest of the world.

I agree as it doesnt seem fair to the ROC that one province rules the rest. No one, and I repeat no one leading any of the federal political parties will stand up against the aggressive Quebec Nation. Even here in Ontario, especially with a lieberal government, we can see the french language taking over many eastern Ontario communities like in Russell Township where they have made it MANDATORY for all businesses to have bilingual signs. No choice. In Cornwall, Ontario there is a walk-in medical clinic for francophones ONLY :!:

I see a completely different future for Quebec and Canada. I see a Quebec that will become afraid to leave Canada, because of their decreasing population, and most Quebecers will realise that the only way they can keep their culture together is in the Canadian confederation. They might want to test the water, but this is as good as it will get for Quebec. |
