I didn't pick the title...
http://www.libertarian.ca/the-.....ice-state/

As a software programmer and a computer enthusiast I can't help but agree that bills C-11 and C-30 are an infringement of our rights. I remember discussing "SOPA" with a fellow conservative and they said to me "SOPA will never come to Canada, Canadians wouldn't let it happen". So here we are only about a year after hearing that statement and C-11 is passed, and C-30 seems to be keeping a low profile in an effort to get passed as well.

Not to mention the guy pushing the bill seems to be a narrow minded fool. To quote Vic Toews, "people can either stand with us or with the child pornographers". So not giving up our right to privacy is the equivalent to molesting children?

I am a libertarian leaning voter, however I have always voted Conservative. As much as I do like Harper, he seems to be surrounded with just as many intelligent people as he is morons. We are either a free society or we aren't.

The Government is suppose to provide freedoms, and to provide safety where is does not infringe on those freedoms. Part of being a free society means facing the danger, as freedom does offer the potential for risk. Vic Toews would likely have us lock ourselves in a padded prison cell so we can't hurt ourselves. If you don't want your kids to be victims then watch them... be responsible...

If we lose all our freedoms while trying to protect them, what is the point?
