Quote:
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission has fined Guelph, Ont., Liberal MP Frank Valeriote’s riding association for a robocall message that anonymously attacked his Conservative opponent’s position on abortion in the last election campaign.

Under a settlement agreement with Valeriote, the CRTC assessed a $4,900 fine for violations of the Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules.

Thia ought to get blabbed around ... it was the Liberals who ended up being the offenders here!

Notice it was the CRTC that prosecuted the offense! NOT Elections Canada.

Why are the Liberals doing this? Their hope is that they can 'scare' voters into supporting the Liberals. It's a reprise, a revival of their old theme, the Conservative 'Hidden Agenda'. Conservatives want women back, barefoot and pregnant, on a tether line between the kitchen and the bedroom ...

It was used to stir up the passions of the 'free to choose' crowd. To me, it's campus politics. Surely everybody realizes that, in reality, that NO party wants to overturn the present status quo on the abortion issue ... or gender issues, in general.

I don't really know what to make of it. Does anyone believe that any political party is going to step into the 'abortion' issue on the 'abolitionist' side?

If they did, they would stir up a shit-storm of opposition, and afterwards. face-off with the one institution in society where power and responsibility are most completely separated from each other ... the Supreme Court of Canada. Power without Responsibility personified.

The Conservative Party isn't going to get involved with that unless there are changes in the public will.

The 'abortion issue' is politically stalemated. It amounts to an political IQ test. Any professional politician that would walk into that hornet's nest, for that reward, would qualify as an idiot.
