Not the Harper we knew before he got elected.... What a joke.... Mr Pander......
I wouldn't be surprised to see this govt form an Office Of Self-Righteousness next. Vic Toews could run it.

True freedom is with no religion, what a wastage of money to maintain places of worship, school text books and teachers. This money could have been used to care for the sick and old people. People who want to be members of religious communities should do it spending their own money.

Well that is short-sighted...this is a way to officially support those minorities at risk from Islamist expansion in places such as Africa. There's a number of reasons why it's a good thing.

Not just in Africa, Belgium could soon be at risk, Christians may soon be in trouble there.
Two Islamists have been elected in Belgium, as the demographics change, so will the elected representatives.
"Belgium Will Become an Islamic State"

Canada is running deficits yet Stephen Harper can fund an office of religious freedom.
It is an egregious waste of taxpayer dollars and is nothing but an exercise in vote buying.
Canada can defend human rights around the world through foreign affairs and through promoting human rights you promote religious freedom.
Canada is a secular country and there is supposed to be a separation of church and state. Canadians are constitutionally guaranteed religious freedom under the charter.
I would like an office of freedom from religion and a Government that has enough sense to keep church and state separate.
