|
|
| Quote: | Opposition parties are slamming a Tory backbencher's motion against sex-selective abortion as a cynical bid to re-open the abortion debate.
But Tory backbencher Mark Warawa argues it's about protecting girls from "the worst form of gender violence - gendercide."
The motion, tabled by the B.C. MP in September, reads: "That the House condemns discrimination against females occurring through sex-selective pregnancy termination."
NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair said Wednesday his caucus will vote against M-408 and wouldn't be "duped" by what he saw as Warawa's sleight-of-hand attempt to get abortion on the agenda.
"The context of this particular motion is that is was presented within minutes after the last one (M-312) was defeated." |

While I am usually not one to weigh in on social issues;
I have to admit that I am impressed with the tact that was taken by Mark Warawa with this motion.
The concept of denying life over gender is something so ridiculous that I would imagine the majority of Canadians would find it utterly deplorable, yet the Opposition has to be in favor of it because the Tories are opposed.
Making the NDP look like fanatics is at a minimum entertaining. |

This hasn't been a practical problem for a long time. It's an ideological problem.
The pro-choice crowd are so determined that a woman's right to kill her unborn children should be unimpaired that they oppose things that have the mere implication that a unborn child is a human being ... such as steps taken by Childrens' Aid when they have women in their charge who persist in drinking and snorting, and all that, while they are pregnant.
So, it comes to pass than it a country where parents can't legally spank their own children, and where adults aren't even allowed to smoke in their own car if there's someone under 18 with them ... in such a country, a woman has the perfect right to snort and guzzle whatever she likes, legal or not, kid be damned ... |
