There was a charter challenge and Bill 101 was deemed unconstitutional.
The Quebec government used the notwithstanding clause though so the law still stands (and they have to re-invoke it every 5 years to keep the law on the books). |

If you read the NP article you will see that this has nothing to do with bill 101 or even Quebec.
It also shows how sec 1 of Trudeau's charter can be used to take away your rights even when protected by other sections. |

| I actually live in the area of this bylaw. I'm not impressed by how many French-only signs have popped up lately despite the bilingual requirement, including signs posted by the municipality itself. |
