This is not a question of whether or not you think global warming is real or caused by humans or whatever. It is also not a question of whether or not it is better or worse than Al Gore's film. Much simpler than that.

Considering the long list of problems with the film (as far as I know they are undeniable, unless someone here thinks otherwise), is the film still a force for good if it convinces people of something you believe is true?

A more important question would be: should we support specific films or politicians for that matter that we believe in even if they are shown to be deliberately deceptive?

The list of criticisms can be found on the wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T....._criticism

They include relabeling graphs, misrepresenting interviewees, and blatant falsehoods.

NO!

Way to much of this goes on already. How can you fight bad science with more bad science. How can you fight lies with more lies?

Couldn't the same question be asked about algoreacle's duhcumentary?

Ignore the awards. Set aside the blatant flaws in his "facts" and the many fatal errors in his arguments. Is "An Inconvenient Truth" a force for good? Shouldn't they run a disclaimer* before every showing?

*- My suggested disclaimer:

"The following film is a work of fiction based on the ravings of a diseased mind."
