The Liberals wanted him, we got him. Does he have any chance in Ajax-pickering?

We have made gains in Ajax-Pickering every election in terms of number of votes,
and lost in 2008 by about 3000 votes.

Its a riding that we really have not put that much effort into, and has had three different Conservative candidates in the last three elections.

If Chris Alexander really does put the effort into the riding, and the mothership sees this one as winnable with a few high profile visits it could turn, especially with the current polling numbers.

On a side note,
Mark Holland the current MP is one of the new wave of young Liberals.
Very active online, very accessible, and a general pain in the backside during question period.

The Liberal Braintrust also take the riding forgranted which could allow us to score a win by bouncing him if we could.

However, if Holland does go I certainly hope someone from our party picks up the torch on his quest to amend the cruelty to animals legislation.

This isn't an issue I've been following - what are the outstanding problems with it that equire ammendment?

The animal cruelty sections of the Criminal Code of Canada has largely remained written and unchanged from 1892,

Does anyone know where Chris Alexander or his campaign can be contacted? I live nearby and am interested in helping out however I can. I'm a recent university graduate looking for work, so until I find something I have plenty of free time for volunteering.

I've tried googling him but haven't found any personal or campaign website or contact information.

think the conservatives have a chance in just about any of the 905 ridings at the moment , that being said ajax pickering for whatever reasons has been a riding where the conservatives have had a tough time even though they won the other durham region ridings like oshawa and whitby . i think if chris alexander works the riding hard and can convince the residents he'd make a good mp , he has somewhat of a chance there .

but mark holland will be tough to beat and won't give up the seat without a fight i suspect .

Ajax Pickering seems a lot like Mississauga South to me.
We can get close, but its that last 2000 votes that will be very hard to obtain.

Mississauga South was suppose to turn before any other Mississauga riding, and instead in 2008 we saw the Liberals make up ground, and us win Mississauga Erindale.

Holland is very well liked, but of Alexander can work the riding hard and can get some high profile and very public visits from the muckity mucks within the party during the next few months and during the campaign he may make it close.

We can win the riding, but it may be among the last in the 905's to go Blue.

these are the most recent results from ajax pickering since it was created in 2004 . some trends are interesting , first off the conservative vote was really low here in 2004 yet has increased in every election since . the liberal vote has never dropped below 21000 votes and 04 and 08 vote totals almost the same . the green vote has also been growing in the riding by a little bit each election . the ndp vote has gone up and down and 08 was a bad election for them here once kevin modeste left as candidate .

looking at the numbers here it be tough to pass the liberals but not totally impossible but ndp vote is going to have to go back up not down here i would suspect .
