They CAN backfire though so they should be very well thought out.


Yes that is what happens at times.So i have to agree that they do work as most folks do not follow politics 24/7.when i followed the 2008 elections in the U.S. i noticed a significant spike about one month before elections in the U.S.Then the slinging REALLY started.Canada is no different.Just smaller. :)
