Great news for us here in Manitoba Gary Doer is set to resign as leader by not running in the next election. Hopefully this gives the PC's a fighting chance in the next election and a stronger desire for change by Manitobans. We have had the highest taxes West of Quebec since who knows when, we are not even invited to the western Canadian premiers conference because of premier Doer and the NDP raids Manitoba Hydro revenues every year just to balance the budget.

Canada will be better governed without this socialist moron.

Surely our left-plunging PM is not going to further insult his conservative base, which he has already done by the insane amount of unneeded deficit spending, by appointing this imbecile socialist to the Senate!

CBC suggested Bill Blaikie (place barfing emoticon here) might want the job. I wasn't a fan of Doer but I think Blaikie would be far worse. How much of a shot do the PC's have of ending the dynasty?

I'm glad Doers leaving, but the PCs here do not have their act together at all. I can't see them winning an election any time soon unfortunately. They've done nothing to make the public aware of just how badly Doer's been messing up (most people think he's done a great job).

Blaikie would definitely be a lot worse. Problem is, he's just popular enough around here that he'll probably win anyway, no matter how badly he screws things up.

Doer hasn't inspired the kind of outrage that typically sees a political party drummed out of office. The PC Party won't have an easy ride to victory.
