To be honest, I starting thinking that there was too much coverage, and I still think there is! I mean, you know its bad when the media does a story on if another story is getting too much coverage!
But I confess, I watched a bit of the memorial service. I was pleased that a lot of the idolizing was toned down. It was about remembering him as a person and a brother, father, and then as a talented musician. I was pleased, as a Christian (also knowing the family’s roots in faith) that there was a lot of talking about Jesus and God and the role of the Lord in all things, including MJ’s death. I think that for the first time since Jackson died, he was allowed to be seen as a human rather than an idol.
I wasn't an MJ fan so the extensive coverage didn't do a thing for me. I expect we're seeing another "Elvis" in the making where the estate of a dead artist makes more than the artist did while living.
