We need a thread for debunking the persistent lies told and retold by those on the political left.

Lets start with hurricane Katrina.

Fact: "The federal government pretty much met its standard time lines, but the volume of support provided during the 72-96 hour was unprecedented. The federal response here was faster than Hugo, faster than Andrew, faster than Iniki, faster than Francine and Jeanne."

Secondly, lets move on to the New Deal, created by one president Hoover. What is that, you though FDR created the New Deal? Well, I hate to break it to you but you have been wrong. For a very long time. Hoover was the one who first tried to spend his way out of the great depression. A depression created by government over regulation.

What other persistent false hoods of the left would you like to see corrected?

The myth that Trudeau's government was a net benefit for Canadian society.

The myth that fascism and Nazism are (or were) right-wing ideologies.

I've said it recently but here goes ago; the myth that somehow the left thinks they are for progress.

Then there is also the myth that somehow Canadians gain more civil freedoms when in reality it gives more to some but takes away from the majority

The myth that by equality in pay leads to more prosperity but in reality makes everyone except the elites suffer equally

The myth that somehow the left is a lot more tolerant, & peaceful then the right

The myth that setting a minimum wage raises the poor out of poverty, that one is particularly damaging. In fact, going back to the great depression, wage and price controls did a lot to lengthen and deepen it.

Obama is proposing wage limits on Americans, not just executives but all of the employees, seems like America has jumped from the great beacon of liberty to a nation possibly moving further left then Canada.

Yeah, wage and price controls have never had the desired effect, yet socialists just keep trying and trying. Sometimes I wonder if you have to be dropped on your head as a baby to hold so dearly to these clearly wrong beliefs.

Well I was dropped on my head as a baby & had a nail in my head, no really, which is likely why I can't write as good as I should but still being dropped on your head is not an excuse.

How about the old canard that the US Democrats are to the right of the Conservatives? Shouldn't be too hard to put that too bed, Obama and Pelosi are doing most of the heavy lifting as we speak. By 2012, the joke about the difference between us being guns and healthcare will have reversed itself...

The myth that the CBC news is balanced.

The myth that the CBC is worth every penny.

The myth that Universal Heath care is free.

They myth that the HRC's support the charter of Rights and Freedoms.

The myth that life begins after the government mandated period that a mother is allowed to abort her child

The myth that Government daycare is better for 'little peoples' (formally known as children) then home care by a parent.

The myth that Prison is for rehabilitation not punishment for a crime.

The myth that 4 years in prison is sufficient time for murder

The myth that an individual is not responsable for somthing he or she has done.

The myth that guns and sharp pointy objects kill people

The myth that people who live in rural Canada are hicks
