I told my leftie co-worker that carbon offsets are like me p@ssing on your pant-leg but making up for it by paying to clean a different set of pants.

Here's another way carbon credits (CCs) would work.

Lets say I've got a small manufacturing plant in southern Ontario. I pollute a little bit, it's just part of the process. Don't like southern Ontario though... the labour costs are too high and the corporate taxes are too high... so... what to do...

I know I'll relocate my factory down to Mexico and keep my head office in Ontario. That way I can get the Canadian taxpayer to finance my move down to Mexico. How... by lowering my companies' Carbon footprint. So I get huge CC rebates for lowering my emissions and I get the government to help pay for my move. Win-win correct?

Oh, I forgot about the Canadian workers. Oh well now they can pollute less since they don't have to get to work everyday.

Now that's truly Win-Win-Win!
