Does this mean the union is starting to worry about their cushy jobs?

The Libs are running ads over this now.
People in 307 riding will be thinking to themselves:
1) who is Ritz?
2) I'm never buying his crackers again.
3) If I see the name Ritz on the ballot I'm not voting for him. |

I apologize for stressing out, but there is no time to relax from the election. Every hand is needed on every campaign in the country.
While the polls are looking good like nothing harmed us, the new liberal ad is going to change all that. It's full of lies half truths and insinuations, which too many people are willing to sop up. Even if it doesn't convince a single person to switch their vote, the left wing nutters will be enticed to show up at a highly increased turn out by these scare ads.
So Liberal jerks, who's practicing Republican campaigning now? I'm getting tired of your personal attacks on Stephen Harper and other members of the government after you promised to run a positive campaign. I hope you're reduced to one lonely seat on election day. Then that person can be a leader to keep all your useless Senatorial hacks company. |

I think I can safely say that everyone reading this has at one point been faced with a stressful situation. And during that time sometimes things get said in a way of expressing frustration and even anger at the problem. I don't think he did anything wrong. Yes no one likes to think he was making "jokes", but I don't see it that way at all. What I see is a minister that was working his "---" off all hours of the night and day and doing a damn good job and in the heat of a very stressful meeting let off some steam expressing his frustration. To think he was making jokes about the deaths caused by this is outrageous. These people will do anything to try and get at PMSH. Our PM has been accused of being like Hitler, has been called a liar, and has been portrayed as : the man with the hidden agenda". And we all know the records and history of those doing the accusing. Well I've seen the man in action for the past 2yrs, and I'd love to see what he is hiding. What we have seen so far has been better than this country has seen in 30 years. Bring on the rest Mr Harper. |
Excellent post. |

| Quote: | A new poll released Friday suggests a series of gaffes by the Conservatives, such as an insensitive joke by Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz, might not have hurt the Tories as much as expected.
"The gaffes don't matter. The only people they matter to are the people on the planes following the campaign," said Darrell Bricker, CEO of Ipsos Reid Public Affairs. "The public is not focused on them at all."...
Ritz |
But on a day when the world was focused on financial markets CTV NewsNet once again led with Ritz.
But, whether one condemns or apologizes for Ritz, at least the public is apparently not falling for this cheap ad of the Libs.
Nice then to listen to the CBC radio news this morning:
Two election items only:
1. Tories up, Libs down in latest poll
2. A second NDP candidate resigns over a drug issue. |

I posted this on another thread but I think it is relevent to this thread.
| Quote: | The media are giving Harper the screws right now. Harper was a D@ck to the media, and yes I loved that.
But we have to expect the media to take there pound of flesh. I expected this, the question is will the MSM be doing this gotcha crap in the final 2 weeks of the election?
For the record, Harper has been on point over these media Faux Scandles. Like I said I have been waiting for this, so I was interested in how Harper would react. And all I can say is that Harper has been flawless. Bravo PM Harper, but please keep your cool.
Remeber the last 2 elections the media was easy on the CPC(opposition) for the start of the elections, and hated on the LPC(government) at the start. But then the media went pro liberal(I hope Government) in the dying days of the elections.
So right now I am just biting my tongue. The last 2 weeks of the election are the ones we have to watch. If the media is still shilling for the Liberals at that point, they need to be called on it. Remeber regardless of how much we think the MSM is liberal, they wan't to sell papers and get viewers more. And a close race at this point in time, is in the MSM media's interest.
I am waiting for the second last week to post on how the media has handled this electon, and I am taking notes.
|
But on the Ritz Issue.....
This Ritz thing has got me just so upset, Ritz was on TV everyday and was on point on this issue, I am sorry but Ritz did his job, top notch IMHO. but I am keeping my cool for now. B/C frankly Ritz handled this issue in good form.
Let the Liberals, New Democrat Party and the Canadian Press try to use this unfortunate issue, for partisan purposes.
PS:What's worse...
1)A bad joke from a Minster of the crown, during a private conference call with no context, who is so on top of this issue, that the MSM had a press confrence everyday during this situation? Ritz was on top of this issue and was willing to inform the public, everyday during this situation.
Or
2)Someone who waits intill an election, to use an out of context joke about a fragile file, for partisan purposes? Someone who did not think this out of context joke was bad enough, to take it to the media the day of?....But week 2(a month after the original Joke was made) of the 08 electon . When Dion and the LPC is falling apart, this comes out .
Bottom line, the only ones expoliting this tragic event.. Are the media, LPC and NDP, disgusting.... |

So, despite the media firestorm, Ritz handily wins his riding taking 60%+ of the vote ....
guess it wasn't as important an issue as the media tried to make it out to be! |

| You can bet your bottom dollar he won't be AG Minister or in Cabinet. I would vote for my MP Mike Chong as the new AG Minister! |

Considering that he has no expertise in agriculture, and doesn't come from a riding really known for farming, that would be an unusual choice, to say the least. *If* Ritz is removed from his post (and he might not, he's done an excellent job thus far), he will be replaced by someone from a Western Agricultural riding - the CWB is *the* agriculture issue, and it's domain does not extend into Ontario. |
