Hello all!

I'm a resident of Southern Alberta (doesn't that just scream conservative??). I used to work in the oilfield but I am currently getting my BN from UofC through Medicine Hat College. I am a fiscal conservative with a variety of social views. I don't think my social views can have a blanket term, such as right or left, because they seem to vary on issue to issue. I think it'd be more accurate to say I'm socially permissive with a low tolerance to crime. Finally, I am very conservative in my world views. I tend to, like other conservatives, see what is really happening and judge what is right and wrong from there, unlike certain other parties who see what the polls are really saying and judge what their policy should be from there.

Anyway, I'm happy to be here and hope to have some interesting political debate in the future!

Go Flames!

I'm sure you can all guess where I stand based on my username. ;-)

No real name here, for now... at least not until after the next election. But I'll intro myself none the less...

I go by Christian Conservative, a member (I hope in good standing!) of the Blogging Tories. Been blogging since early 2005. I am a member in good standing of the Conservative Party of Canada, and am a full flegded So-Con. I am a Conservative for ideological reasons, and as such, I take firm stands on most issues... sorry Dan. ;-)

I am a member of the board for my local CPC EDA, and am actively working to unseat our Liberal MP in the next Federal Election.

I am a born-again Christian, and am involved in politics to ensure that the Christian world-view is at least acknowledged, at a time when the left would like nothing more than to silence those of faith once and for all.

I believe that the left's various experiments with socialism have been an utter failure, and are in fact the root cause of the majority of problems faced in Canada today. I believe that personal responsiblity is the best means of dealing with social problems, but I have no intentions of trying to force my views on anyone. (though I do firmly believe that true and genuine Christianity would solve the problems of the world) ;-)

The Lord Jesus Christ taught us to "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." I believe that we ought to take care of those who cannot care for themselves, but we don't need bloated government programs to accomplish that. I believe that Canadians are becoming more and more "unCanadian", in that we're becoming meaner, less caring, and selfish... and it's the left's fault, not the right! The "what's in it for me" attitude is beginning to permeate our culture due to leftist thinking... and the old style "Canadian" values of helping our fellow man, caring for others and sharing, (values that most Tories I know still have in abundance, whereas FEW on the left I see still have) are rapidly vanishing.

I believe that the current trend toward "Statism" is the root of our problems, which has only served to foster an unhealthy reliance on government programs. As such, I believe that P.E. Trudeau was the worst thing that could ever happen to Canada, (the more I read about him, the less I like him) and that PM Stephen Harper is the best thing to happen to Canada in the last 50 years (the more I read about him, the more I like him).

To sum up, I'll say in this... the Liberal Party of Canada is the most "unCanadian" bunch of people I have ever had dealings with. They desire power at all costs, once they have "The Precious", (the PMO) they use their power to benefit themselves, their families and their elitist friends, and don't want to "rock the boat" by actually addressing the problems of our nation. They govern based on what the latest headlines tell them, and have no interest in actually dealing with root causes of issues, just because the steps involved in solving those problems may not be popular. I have more respect for the NDP than I do the Liberals... at least the NDP are willing to take a stand, even if I disagree with it. Jello, nails, and walls come to mind when talking about the ideological stands of Liberals...

So, that's my intro. I'm not worried about rocking the boat, so long as we can get down and discuss ideas, share points of view, and tackle real issues without resorting to statements to the effect of "YOU'RE A NEO-CON BIGOT"! (I get that from time to time)

Besides, I don't fit the definition of a "Neo-Con"... a "neo-con" is a former liberal (leftist) who has converted to a conservative ideology. (or, as I like to view it, has come to their senses... LOL) I'm conservative through and through... always have been, likely always will be.

Comments? Fire away!
Stephen

My first post here on the new forum.

I guess I should try to explain my name.

As you may have already guessed, Ardvark is not my real name, but I have been using the mis-spelled Ardvark as my moniker for many years on various sites all over the internet and have kept the name alive here. The reason for the wrong spelling is that a gaming site I belonged to a long time ago only allowed user names of up to 7 letters; and so the ardvark was born.

If you combine the above with my real name of Albert you have the name of my blog, which worked out nice as I do live in Edmonton

And lets face it 3 A's just does not look right (Albertaaardvark)

Since most of you have been put to sleep by the boring story of my online name, I will just say Hello to everyone and see if I can get that signature to work correctly.

Hello, my name is Les and I'm an alcoh- Shit! Wrong message board :?

Yep, my name is Les. My site is Spiderman's Web, perhaps you've had the patience to actually read a post or two. Perhaps not. I haven't been blogging a lot lately but I still surf the BT list looking for informed opinions (or just really new perspectives on old spin).

It helps break up all the p0rn surfing for the most part. I guess you could call me a Conservative. Although I'm not a hardcore ideologue I do espouse certain conservative philosophies as my own. Also I support gay marriage as long as both the chicks are hot ;)

Political correctness is also not my thing...

Cheers

Hi All,

My name is Frank Hilliard and I'm an ex-ex-ex CBC National TV News reporter, ex-pr manager from Canada Post, ex-director (wee-hoo) of corporate communications at the Canadian Sports Pool Corporation; ex-private TV News Director (CFPL), ex-editor of Canadian Biker Magazine, ex-computer radio talk show host, humm, ex husband of 4 ex-wives, and all round nice guy. I recently sold a Suzuki TL1000S for a Burgman 400 which shows I'm slowing down. I do web-database stuff now and have a blog where I rant a fair amount: http://mesowest.blogspot.com/

I also run the premier homeinvasion website in Canada where you will get some good tips, believe me: http://homeinvasion.ca/

There's more but, hey, we have time; perhaps a beer would be in order. :)

Frank, your posts do not appear with titles on the Blogging Tories aggregator. This is likely because you're not using the title field when you write them on the Blogger.com web interface.

The titles in the aggregator are the links to the various posts. If you want your posts (with links to your posts) to appear on the BT main-page, please format your posts using the title field for titles.

If this isn't the problem, shoot me an email and let's figure it out.
