An interesting little video posted at Rob Nicholls:

A little overwrought in some places, but it makes some salient points.

Very interesting. Like you said, a trifle overwrought but still thought provoking.

I wish someone would offer solutions to the corrupt public school system. What's a person to do when they live in a small town and don't have any other options besides a public school?

Speaking of Teachers' Unions. Take a look at websites encouraged by the Manitoba Teachers' Society. Notice any kind of a theme?

I believe that in the USA federal funding and any federal meddling in schools should be eliminated. We differ so much regionally that rubber stamping policies from DC is counter productive. I also believe that tax credits should be given to any parent who wishes to send their child to a private school, a religious school, or home school. Competition is good. Any state or local funding for education should be on a per student basis. I honestly do not believe state funds should even be used for schooling, only city or county, depending on the area. The unions need to be entirely removed from education as well.

If John Tory had framed his private school policy as an attack at the poor quality of education in Ontario instead of as a faith based initiative he might have gotten elected!

Competition is good.
