Craig, I'd have to agree with you and respectfully disagree with Peter. While the situation may be worse in select areas of Iraq, overall it has been discovered that the rate of violent crime in Iraq is still lower than in many American cities! Most of the violence seems to be in the Sunni Triangle, but if you read the reports from Kurdistan (Northern Iraq) you would discover that the majority of people there fully support the U.S. led war in Iraq. Some have gone so far as to wish to become the 51st American state.

I think we'll see Israel deal with these problems, if anyone does.. and if the west gets dragged in, it will likely be because the US and Britain help to defend Israel.

I don't think military action is wise simply from a diplomatic stand-point. The US risks alienating even more of the world, and gaining the appearance of an expansionist threat. At least currently, the anti-american sentiment is largely a lot of mouth-pieces that hate the current president. By invading Iran because they are developing nuclear technology that many other countries have already covertly developed - it sends a bad message...

Sanctions are a good idea - and they work decently as long as oil for food doesnt exist ;)

The world can't sit on its hands - it MUST act, somehow... if not, it will further highlight the impotence of the UN, and will encourage other despotic tyrants to do the same..

Dropping a lot of bombs on Iran might delay its ability to produce nuclear weapons by two years. It would also ruin the reputation of the US and by extension every Western aligned country for the next two generations at least - two centuries would probably still be a conservative figure.

Not a good idea.
