According to... wait for it... wait for it...

THE TORONTO STAR

http://www.thestar.com/News/Canada/article/428528

Quote:
Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion's approval rating has sunk to its lowest level yet, with nine of 10 Canadians saying they disapprove or are not sure of his performance as the head of the party, according to the latest Toronto Star/Angus Reid opinion poll.

Not since former Liberal leader John Turner bottomed out with a 14 per cent approval rating shortly after losing the 1988 election have things been so bad for the head of Canada's most successful political party. Just 10 per cent of those surveyed stand behind Dion's leadership, the poll shows, compared to 32 per cent for Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

What's worse is that the number of people who said they were unsure about Dion's performance has dropped from 46 per cent at the end of last summer to 30 per cent this month, meaning that Canadians are making up their minds about a leader who has had difficulties rallying his party behind him as well as communicating his party's positions to potential voters.

You mean this carbon tax?

Quote:
The findings of The Canadian Press Harris-Decima survey suggest the politically risky move of putting a price on carbon holds a potential payoff.
...
The survey asked people if they would support:

– A carbon tax on people and businesses based on the carbon emissions they generate. Sixty-one per cent agreed and 32 per cent disagreed with the idea.

– A carbon tax for businesses and people, if the generated cash were spent on incentives for eco-friendly behaviour and renewable energy. Seventy per cent agreed and 22 per cent disagreed.

– An environmental usage charge that would apply to people and businesses who use above-average amounts of fossil fuels, water or electricity, or who produce more garbage. Seventy-three per cent said they would and 20 per cent said they would not.

– An environmental tax refund paid to people who reduce their use of fossil fuels, electricity and water, and who produce less garbage. Eighty per cent said they would and 16 per cent said they would not.

Dion proposes what, according to your poll, the majority of people want... yet he's wildly unpopular. Perhaps you can explain the dichotomy, gc?

I notice that Harris Decima poll did not ask the obvious question; "would you be willing to support a government that wanted you to pay even more tax on gasoline than you do now?". Grasping at straws, Dion, and the carbon tax, are no longer relevant issues.

If a carbon tax is so popular then why are BC municipalities organizing a tax strike?

Why are the BC NDP for the first time in years tied with the Liberals in polls?

I ws watching the "At Issue" panel last night and they thought Dion was a genuis for the carbon tax idea. They said it put seperation between the Libs and the other parties on enviromental issues.

Sort of like how Tory put seperation between himself and Dalton on "Education Issues"

Forgive me but if this ass ever won an election with this bullshit excuse for a tax grab, I'm movin to the States.
