I wonder how many spots will be available? It would be a blast!

I personally don't have a very extensive blog .. so I guess I'm out of the running...

There is an AGM for my riding coming up, in Delisle. Don't know about going to Winnipeg though.

How far is it to drive for you?

A bunch of people are talking about renting a van or RV and driving from Ottawa to there. Should take about a day or two.

The party has negotiated airline discounts BTW.

Question...(because the CPC website has very little info up, so maybe some Convention 2005 people have some wisdom).

Winnipeg is only 2.5 hours from me, so I can get there no problem, and am willing to pay money, but I wasn't voted in "delegate" or whatever by my EDA...can party members pay a fee or whatever and just come watch as spectators?

Because I know I'd love to go to a convention like that with so many influential politicians around :D

Ya, you can usually go as an "observer". It will probably be around $200 to go as one though.

Your riding already had it's delegate selection meeting?

I understood the rules for the DSM were just released on Tuesday and with a minimum 21 days notice of the meetings, that means that the first of those meeting should be happening in two weeks from now.

Oh I don't really know if they have, I know they had the local EDA AGM a few weeks ago (that I missed unfortunately) and thought they might of did it then, but considering I am 16 and this is my first year as a member, and my EDA is pretty big, there is not shot in Hell that I would get delegate status, so I am just interested in going as an Observer.

there are usually two spots reserved for youth delegates so you probably have a good chance.

Students BTW, usually get in for around $150.

I thought there was no youth wing or youth measures like that :? :?

Hmm, well if there are youth delegate spots, then I might want to look at it.

Already got my blogger's creds approved, and likely going as a delegate for my EDA... likely see you there.

It's far, far more politically active that I'm used to being, but I've decided to attend the Alberta Congress being held in Red Deer this June. I'm also considering standing for election as a Delegate for my riding, though my chances of being selected are ... less than optimal, as I'd be a (mostly) unknown quantity.

Edit: If I'm successful, I'll be looking for opportunities to push the HRC issue. I would expect at least one policy motion regarding them to arise at the Alberta Congress.
