The yearly deficit was tamed under Chreteins watch, but he sort of fell into that one after Mulroney set the table.

Tamed under Chretien's watch? Yeah, because of the GST and Free Trade. Oh, and the slashing of transfer payments to the provinces. Hence the "fiscal imbalance." Mulroney is the sole creator of our current economy, and economic policy. Love it or lump it, he was the man to beat.

I still can't get over how many voters still actually trust the Liberals. I guess not reading would do that to someone.
