Given the royalty increases and the largely ineffective "leadership" of Ed "Dion" Stelmach, will the Alberta Alliance make a breakthrough in the next provincial election?

I was called by the PC team to donate yesterday and I told them I was voting Alliance this time.

Thanks for the plug Craig.

We have been very busy at the office; fielding many calls from Albertans such as yourself.

I know I won't be voting PC this election. Stelmach has lost me as a supporter with his poor leadership and most recently his decision on raising royalties. When did the liberals gain control of the Alberta PC party is a question I find myself asking lately.

Time to vote for an actual conservative option.

To think I voted for Stelmach - well actually I voted for Ted Morton on the first ballot and Ed on the second. Silly me.

I just wish that Ted would have gone Alliance - that would have really stirred things up. I hope that option is still open.

I know that I'm seriously considering voting Alliance next provincial election, I read their platform and I like it

The Alberta Alliance will likely have my vote as well in the next election. This could be interesting ... Alberta's voting history tends towards long periods of monolithic support, with very sudden transitions to a new party over one election. I think the next provincial election might be the first in our history where this does not occur.

What about vote splitting? I'd hate for the liberals to squeeze up in the middle.

Not much difference between the Liberals and PC at this point. In fact, Ralph was pretty Liberal in his later years too. I haven't even heard the words "tax cuts" from Ed's mouth yet.

Well theirs a reason I've been spouting my slogan more and more these days for stelmach, I think it has a charm to it. " Ed Stelmach, Everyones second choice" like most people I'm guilty of this I voted Dinning and picked stelmach second. even though Morton had some great ideas the man himself was an ass when I met him. Dinning I have met a couple of times, and I know him not to be the Liberal lover everyone made him out to be.

It is always a possibility.

The Alliance seems like an interesting option,

But the reality seems to be that a vote for the Alliance will simply be a vote for Kevin Taft as a vastly divided right will greatly benefit the Liberals.

Given Kevin Taft or Ed Stelmach which is the worst of the two options?

If everyone took that attitude, we would never see changes in government.
Thankfully, in Alberta we are well known for making significant shifts and welcome fresh approaches to doing business in our province.

That is a VERY good question. In fact, it is such a good question that I think I will vote Alliance ;)

Alberta has always been Conservative.

Its usually long political dynasties with sudden upsets.

Social Credit
PC

maybe now the voters will flock for a change to the Alberta Alliance.

Being a rural Albertan, I can say there is a 0% chance of that happening in rural Alberta. The cities, maybe, but I doubt it. I think it'd take an urban Albertan to answer that one. This picture should illustrate just how popular the liberals are in rural Alberta
