Yeah ... not a fan of the guy, but it would be interesting if he actually did run. I doubt he will, as it would only stand to benefit the GOP.

As long as he was committed to free trade and such, he would be better than at least half of the Democratic candidates.

Colbert's entire schtick is playing an always in-character caricature of the right.

In an election campaign, he'd have to discuss what his actual, true stands are... and that would immediately destroy his television persona, and possibly hurt his image.

He wouldn't be the same Colbert that his fans know and love, and that could hurt him I think.

I think Colbert's great! He'll obviously be in character the whole time. It would be unbelievable if he actually got into the debates!!! :D

I think if he actually get into the debates and polls, I think he'd poll well, especially with the younger demographics. I doubt it'd translate into vote, but it'd still be amusing (which I think is what he's going for).

If he's in character the whole time... how will you know what you're voting for then?

Colbert's funny, but I really do wonder about him some times. Like, does anybody really know what his real stance on the political issues of the days are?

I don't.

It's all a joke obviously. I believe he's running to prove a point.
