From today's National Post...
Scotiabank Group says the federal government's rebate scheme for fule-efficient vehicles is having such a major impact on auto sales in Canada that it is raising its sales forecast for the year to 1.65 million behicles, a 7% increase over its previous projection.
The bank said yesterday new vehicle sales have accelerated across Canada since late March, when Stephen Harper's Conservative government began offering rebates of up to $2,000 to buyers of behicles that get the best gas mileage. May was the best month in the history of the Canadian auto industry.
The bank said it concluded the federal rebates are behind the increase bcause economic conditions have not changed significantly.
I do think that the rebates and the focus that's been brought to those [fuel efficient] vehicles by the rebate program has had a measurable impact on the their demand
Do you think that Rick Mercer and his Liberal buddies had this much of an impact.
Strangely environmentalists are not applauding. I wonder why...
