What does a Sarkozy win mean for France?

What does it mean for the riots in Paris suburbs?

What does it mean for the internationalist response to Iran's nuclear ambitions?

Does this mean we will see an alignment among important leaders worldwide (Harper, Sarkozy, Merkel, Blair (shortly), Howard, Bush)?

Will France dump its poor economic record?

What will this mean for multiculturalism in France?

The end to the 35 hour workweek?

Mass labour demonstrations in France?

What are your predictions?

I think there will be slightly better relations with America until the next crisis and then theyw ill be back to current levels.
I see this as good for France economically but probably bad for it socially....
but what do I know, I am not a French expert.

Probably business as usual. I don't think the French have the willpower to grab their own bootstraps, and pull themselves up out of the state they are in today. Nobody in Europe does. It will have to get several times worse before people get desperate enough to make it better.

I just hope Europe wakes up and steps up to the plate and fulfill its duties better than ever

I don't think Sarkozy will be much different from Chirac. He might be a little warmer towards America. Perhaps he will relax labor regulation somewhat. But then, he supports affirmative action as part of his plan to heal the banlieues.

I think it is fair to say that now France has a leader that wants to play a much bigger roll!
