What do you think of the redesign of the Western Standard's logo?

They moved away from the "son of Alberta Report" look to one sort of like Macleans one? Too bad. |

Canada's only conservative magazine? What about Maclean's? |

Have you read Macleans? It does not have a very conservative bent to it, although it has evolved a more realistic editorial stance recently. I suppose a cover with "HOW SCARY" over Stockwell Day's face qualifies them somehow? |

Several of Maclean's regular columnists are right-wing. Think Mark Steyn and Barbara Amiel. They also tend to feature controversial conservative intellectuals in the interview section. In contrast I can't think of a single left-wing columnist for the magazine.

How about the cover with Jack Layton made to look like Lenin? Or their attacks on Svend Robinson and Hedy Fry?
I'll agree with you that Maclean's isn't as passionately right of centre as Western Standard, but it still has a decided tilt to conservative views. |

Perhaps they have changed recently... I used to get Macleans(about 3 years ago), and I stopped getting it because I found it very left wing. |

I dumped Macleans about five years ago for the same reason. It used to be markedly left-wing. Hmmmm... time to pick up the latest edition and have a look?

My mother use to get Macleans as well, but stopped because of it being too left for her likes. However, since Rogers Communications has had a bigger role, it has become fairer in its articles. I really liked their post election special edition last year. It was very well written. |

I think I'll check it out again. Probably won't get a subscription just yet though.
