Someone should bring up the pig comment with Jane Taber on Mike Duffy Live and ask why the media never picked up on it. Bias perhaps Jane?

This is off-topic, surprising because pigs - and pig farms in particular - would seem to be a natural fit for this thread on the environment.

Some context. Former MP Deb Grey made a big deal of the so-called "gold-plated" MP pension plan when she first came to Ottawa after the '93 elections. Reform MPs in the class of '97 were no less emphatic in their opposition. I believe Ms Grey's signature quote was "Liberals are always snorting at the trough", or something to that effect.

However, when Deb Grey and other Reform MPs eventually bought into the pension plans, the Liberal MPs in the House felt that the tables had been turned. The "pig chants" that you (and Cool Blue above) reference were in that context, and they were presumably designed to remind everybody that Ms Grey was a hypocrite (if memory serves, Chuck Strahl made a public apology of some sort in that regard in a scrum one day).

The Peter MacKay "dog" quote is, therefore, not analogous. This does not preclude a media bias, however, on various other topics against the Conservatives.

Actually, you're wrong - that comment was made in '97... she didn't buy into the pension plan until 2000.

In fact, it does not - even the media(CTV in particular) hounded the liberals about that very comment...

Liberals also referred to Deb as a "slab of bacon".

FYI: One could argue that the "dog" comment was in reference to a dog's loyalty so it would be analogous since they're comparisons of a person's behavior to an animal's characteristic.

Chaulk one up for the blogoshere...I would of never known the "wrapped up in integrity" Liberals would stoop to such behaviour. So much for being the champion of womens rights.

Yeah the blogosphere is a powerful thing these days... good to see the MSM has some competition from good, normal citizens.
