“Rapid-onset gender dysphoria” among teens and young adults may be a social contagion linked with having friends who identify as LGBT, an identity politics peer culture, and an increase in internet use, finds a study out this month from a Brown University professor. The study was quickly yanked from Brown’s news releases after a transgender activist feeding frenzy, and the journal it was published in is reconsidering the publication. This is only the opener to a long article with graphs and charts that don't format themselves on this page. Anyone with an interest should read the whole article.
There are limitations. First, it's probably a pilot study to test the thinking in a preliminary way. But even without a study, it figures that whenever a supposedly biological thing changes rapidly, you have to wonder ... The rates at which these claims are being made are skyrocketing to such levels that you have to look at this aspect of the problem.
The problem is we don't understand how 'plastic' male sexuality is. It can be harnessed. In fact, the white male with a secure family and a mortgage turns out to be the best, most diligent kind of worker. Especially for the skilled people, and especially if he lives in North America and speaks English. Sorry, TC, just a fact.
That, in fact, is a major reason North America became so economically powerful. It had a superior, educated workforce relatively free of class prejudices and social mobility. Not any more.
I would say right now sexuality is being shaped in a different direction that has very little to do with the individual youth's own choices. That's why it's objectionable.
