 Hello all, especially fellow conservatives. Heres the five basic concepts of conservative form of government. 1-Individual Freedom More So Than Group Freedom. 2-Free Enterprise. 3-Respectful of Traditions. 4-Democracy. 5-Good Common Sense. Hey,even Canada's first PM was a conservative, PM-John A MacDonald. He actually connected Canada due to his push for the Canadian railway. At least Canada got on to a fine start. |

Very nice - especially number one: Individual Freedom More So Than Group Freedom - or - individual rights over group rights... |

I'm afraid you might find disagreement with Craig on your first point, canden. For some reason, he disagrees with libertarianism.

I disagree with it to some extent -
I believe in many civil liberties - in particular business-related (the smoking ban in bars for example is something I disagree with - even as a non-smoker)
However, there are some liberties I feel that need to be kept in check... so as to avoid anarchy. |

Nowadays, small government and less taxes are part of the conservatism as well |

Its funny how conservatism in Canada has changed. The word conservative means to conserve although,we are now the most reforming party in Canadian politics.
We are the only party trying change the way things get done in Ottawa. |

It's true - the left claims to be progressive? is their sad dedication to a money sucking health system really progressive? The only progress that has come in the last decade has been for the past 8 months.. |

I was hoping that when they renamed the party they would use the word Democratic as in Democratic Conservatives.
It is the most democratic party in parliment. I am a bit of Libertarian and that is one of the reasons I vote conservative, not withstanding common sense and principles.
We need an elected senate now or liberals will continue to rule this country. |
