It's a CBC interview of the boss at Maple Leaf ... oops ... Air Canada ... oops ... the Scotiabank Rink ...

Johnny Bower was a key in the Imlach Maple Leafs. Imlack got him from one of the barons of the American League. The Leafs were rebuilding into what became the great teams of the late 1960ies, featuring players like Bobby Baun, Dave Keon, Ron Ellis, and Frank Mahovlich ... and lots of others I can't recall.

But he also exemplified a quality that his generation of Canadians shared. They were people who grew up in a depression and graduated into a war. They were also from a time when life was simpler, and they had a gentle decency that now seems charming. Gordie Howe had it, and lots of others had it too. Not all of them were hockey players.

Johnny Bower ... a real gentleman by all accounts.
