I saw a poll recently that said 74% of Canadians agreed with screening Moslems to see if they were tolerant of Canadian values. Anyone blind to the threat that large migrations of Moslems pose is simply too absurd to argue with.

Ah yes...simply too absurd.

What is absurd is that those polled all have different values, let alone that Leitch's idea has never spelled out what values are Canadian. So 74 % , means what? Lets face it, its ignorance that fuels these things.

If Moslem women are against Sharia in Canada, why can't I?

You sure can. I am against Sharia too ! Now what?

And, by the way, how does TC know that the majority of Moslems appreciate democracy and are tolerant of other views? He doesn't.

Um....wheres the news that the Muslims are speaking out against democracy and are intolerant? (other than than Mr Doofus Ezra)

It's left wing bullshit, the kind of rhetoric that makes cis-gendered Canadians the least tolerant compared to any group the are matched with. It's just stupid.

Cis-gendered compared to any other group of what?

Left wing bullshit...oh my. Ya wanna talk stupid? Go read your post.

Why should Canadians take that
risk when we can gets lots of more qualified immigrants from Germany and other places that have opened their gates to Moslems?

Are the ones in Germany applying? If so great. And if not...do we kidnap them or what?
Not sure if you know but Germany is a beautiful country and many love being there.

As for what is happening to 'numeracy' -- it is worse than what has happened to spelling, after a century of government education. Math standards in the public schools in 1900 were higher than they are today.

Now, we de-emphasize math because it makes girls feel inferior.

Speaking of stupid....do you even stop for a minute and think or does your faux , or real for that matter, outrage cause you to have an aneurysm?
The link, which is obvious you didnt read, placed Canada fourth in the world in Sciences.
Now of course your goalposts are moved to include the 1900 standards.

Hey, could you give us a link to the study that was published in 1901 (I take it a year after the results might have come in by pony express to the central data centre whereby the minions would pull out their abacus ? )

Aside from that inanity , maybe the world has gone stupid in the sciences, but at least Canada is at the top of the least stupid people in the world. Theres something to say about that !
The guy just parrots propaganda.
Ah the last gasp of one who has no answers.

I suppose you cant articulate what you meant in your earlier post, you know...the one about how sex ed course can alleviate that problem ? What Problem?

Dont worry, it appears to be a common occurence with you . Ask then run and hide.

Why so angry and why do you hate Canada so much?

Goodale is starting to look like a fool over this issue , we clearly have a problem at the border if people are crossing it and doing so illegally . what country would want people to enter illegally and have no control over who these people were or why they were coming ?

I don't know of a country in the world that actually wants people to enter illegally and simply cross thru wherever they want without proper paper work or visa background checks , except maybe Canada ?

Goodale is looking more and more like retirement should be the next stage of his political career

The Liberals are in Government now;
They have to at least make an effort not to bite on stuff like this.

Mocking the Tories for wanting to enforce the border rightly or wrongly implies that having an unsecured border isn't an issue.

Ralph Goodale has been in Federal Government since 1993;
He should know better.

Some people seem to think otherwise. In fact, they refuse to admit there's a problem, and call anyone who differs with you a racist. I say this only to warn you.

This is the kind of thing that many Canadians, other than TC, think have no place in Canada. Do we want this kind of people, when we could get European immigrants? Or do we have a requirement to take them into our country, unscreened?

Shafia parents and son, convicted in honour killing of four family members, seek new trial

Handout Mohammad Shafia, left, Tooba Mohammad Yahya, right, and their son Hamed were found guilty of murdering sisters Zainab, 19, Sahar, 17, Geeti, 13, and Rona Amir Mohammad, 52, who was Shafia's first wife.

A Montreal father, mother and son convicted nearly four years ago of murdering four other family members in an honour killing argue, in an appeal to Ontario’s top court, that they were victims of “cultural stereotyping” and “overwhelmingly prejudicial evidence” that should not have been admitted at their murder trial.

In a 110-page document filed with the Court of Appeal for Ontario, Mohammad Shafia, 62, his wife Tooba, 45, and their son Hamed, 24, claim they’re entitled to a new trial. The document is a concise outline of the evidence and legal argument that lawyers for the three will present at a hearing scheduled for Dec. 14.

The trio, who were tried together, complains that the trial judge, Justice Robert Maranger, made numerous errors of “misdirection and non-direction” that may have permitted jurors to make improper conclusions. [....]

Naw....you say that to try and convince others to support your silly meanderings and there does not seem to be any support around here.
But keep on trying !

Oh by the way, I never called you a racist. A bigot , oh yeah, that part is obvious just by reading what you post.
You forgot homophobe too !

This is the kind of thing that many Canadians, other than TC, think have no place in Canada.

Why of course I support murder and rape and all the great things that harm people. Who could one not? So much fun.

Wait a sec....weren't you saying something about stupid yesterday? Well, here ya go, the stupidest thing youve said is that I support these types of atrocities.
Man you look so petty when you do this crap. Alas...

Do we want this kind of people, when we could get European immigrants?

Oh no, looky here , your Europeans k? http://news.nationalpost.com/f.....romas-sake -Criminal smuggling ring
Or here...naw...never mind. The point is Europeans can commit crimes too! Isnt that amazing?

But then there is this...https://www.cifar.ca/assets/arrival-of-the-fittest-canadas-crime-rate-is-dropping-as-immigration-increases-is-there-a-connection/ which is to say even with (what you call the horrible Moslems <sic> ) all the people coming here our crime rate is dropping

Shafia parents and son, convicted in honour killing of four family members, seek new trial

Incredible isnt it? Some folks come to this country , commit a horrible crime against their own family and then.....oh NOooooooo....get charged, convicted and sent to prison.

How the hell did that happen? Dont we give them one forgiveness chit like we do in Auto insurance?

The gentle reader may have forgotten that this thread was originally about defending the border against unscreened immigration. TC seems to think that I have to be exposed as some crypto-fascist monster because I express mainstream opinions -- at least on this.

In today's news ...

About 4,000 kilometres southwest of Ottawa, migrant shelters line the Mexico border where, Reuters reports, many of those now being deported from Trump’s America are plotting a Canadian invasion.

They’re telling reporters there’s no future trying to re-enter and stay in a hostile U.S.A.. Their Plan B is to beeline for Canada.

These could be dismissed as isolated or anecdotal experiences except the raw numbers suggest, and I apologize for this badly mixed metaphor, the canary is doing a swan song in the immigration coal mine.

Since Canada’s lifting of visa requirements for Mexicans four months ago, advice requests of immigration specialists and approved travel authorizations have tripled.
Flight bookings to Canada by Mexicans are up 90 per cent from a year ago although, to be fair, some of that could be from enhanced tourism.

Meanwhile, the calls for asylum-seeker assistance from Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister rate little more than a shrug from federal ministers waiting to see if there’s a wave developing before reacting.

Yet consider the advance warnings from the Immigration and Refugee Board. The chair says the board is funded and staffed to handle 17,000 asylum claims, but he anticipates double that number this year. In short order, wait times will double to eight months, giving illegal arrivals plenty of time to disappear into the underground, undocumented economy.

Like it or not, Canada has become a beacon for the poor, huddled masses from Mexico and elsewhere yearning for freedom, or at very least refuge from Donald Trump’s ongoing crackdown efforts.

The word is out and spreading that simply setting a foot on Canada soil is to reach the land of immigration opportunity, by legal or illegal means.

That’s not a bad thing for potentially productive arrivals.

It seems to me to be a time for the government to get out front on this. The Mexicans are not "the huddled masses, yearning to be free." They are free. The historical record shows them to often be dependent on welfarem and bring the drug trade with them.

But with militant Moslems, it's a matter of life and death.

Wouldn't it be nice is officialdom were as far-seeing and risk-adverse with foreigners as they are with Canadians who have a hobby of flying drones?

More so far this year than in all of 2016!

Exclusive: Canadian border authorities detaining record number of Mexicans

By Anna Mehler Paperny

TORONTO (Reuters) - Canada's border authorities detained more Mexicans in the first 67 days of 2017 than they did annually in any of the three previous years, according to statistics obtained by Reuters.

The spike comes immediately after Canada's federal government lifted its visa requirement for Mexican citizens in December.

Many Mexicans looking north have shifted their focus from the United States to Canada as President Donald Trump vows to crack down on America's undocumented immigrants, about half of whom are Mexican. On Friday, Reuters reported, immigration judges were reassigned to 12 U.S. cities to speed up deportation.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said it detained 444 Mexican nationals between Jan. 1 and March 8, compared with 410 for all of 2016, 351 for 2015, and 399 for 2014.

The CBSA can detain foreign nationals if it is believed they pose a danger to the public, if their identity is unclear or if they are deemed unlikely to appear for removal or for a proceeding.

The number of Mexicans turned back at the airport has risen, too - to 313 in January, more than any January since 2012 and more than the annual totals for 2012, 2013 and 2014.

With the visa requirement lifted, all that Mexicans need to come to Canada is an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), obtainable online in a matter of minutes. But they cannot work without a work permit, and the eTA does not guarantee entry.

Canada issued 72,450 travel authorizations to Mexican citizens between Dec. 1, 2016, and March 10, 2017 - a significant increase compared with a similar period when visas were required.

Canada's Immigration and Refugee Minister Ahmed Hussen has said his department is monitoring the situation.

"It would be premature to draw conclusions or to speculate on future policy at this point," Hussen's spokeswoman, Camielle Edwards, wrote in an email Friday evening.
