News agencies around the world are reporting a nuclear test from North Korea. That's odd. They've been threatening their neighbors for years with those things, so their very first test seems to be coming a little late... and so far, there isn't even any radioactivity reported from the test. Hmmmm... More empty threats?
Either way, North Korea is run by a whack-job.
Canada isn't directly involved in the situation over there, but our histories are intertwined: Canadian soldiers fought alongside the UN to keep North Korea from annexing its southern neighbor over 50 years ago. Today, that neighbor, South Korea, is a shining beacon to other nations in the region for what freedom and capitalism can achieve. The North is still as messed up as it was when we left.
Question: Is North Korea really a threat to international security?
Almost forgot. I made a video about the Kim Jong Il regime a little while back that is probably relevant again now. For those who don't know North Korea from North Carolina, it's a pretty simple primer about the situation over there. Enjoy.
If NK's nuclear test really did fail, then that regime is on the way out. No other country that has ever attempted a nuclear test has failed before now. It would show a level of ineptitude and incompetence that has no parallel in our world.
I think we'de see the international community follow through with "punitive action" - the people will be crippled, and he'll be the laughing stock of the international community for failing, then trying to pass it off as a success.
that being said - if he failed, there's nothing to say he will fail next time..
incidently, now they're basically threatening to use a nuclear missile on the states - thats balls..
Glad you liked my video, y'all. The poll results are kind of interesting. I'd like to see more people vote to get a better sample, though. Until next time, keep those bomb shelters well-stocked and tidy.
You better hope they don't have the bomb....They took the axis of evil threat very serious and it was a no brainer to me anyways that they would step up there nuke experiments and produce a bomb. Same with Iran and Syria.
When big bully country threatens you ...you have no choice.
If it was all staged (no nuke just explosives) that is an indication to me that they are more afraid of big bully country than we can imagine. To pretend to have a nuke and suffer the ramifications vs the fact that the US is petrified to REALLY attack any country with one, would show they are like a rat backed into a corner...and if so will go straight for the juggler.
One thing is for sure the US is getting a bit of it's own medicine and I think that is the intention anyways. The world knows it , but they can't say as big bully country says "yer either with us or against us".Sad to see the world squirm under US threat. Except for RUSSIA and CHINA.....that says lots.
Though I agree that N. Korea's a threat, I'm suprised by how many people think we should be ready to send troops ....
For our military to be capable of any kind of useful contribution to such an effort, simultaneous with Afstan or not, would require extensive changes to almost every aspect of our government, economy, and society at large. Our current operational tempo is already stretching resources to the max, and it will take a decade of reforms to relieve that pressure.
I kind of have to laugh at those who are trying to blame Bush and the US for the North Korea obtaining nukes. They're blaming the US's hardline stance taken against the North for it. Frankly, North Korea has been developing nuclear technology for thirty years. Kim was hell-bent on obtaining nukes, and I don't believe that this outcome would have been averted if a "nicer" stance had been taken against the murderous North Korean regime.
