Seems to me that even the CBC and CTV are getting sick of Layton's cowardly lines. I know, its hard to believe but the NDP postion coverage is almost always followed by a lineup of people who are happy to refute it.

But our PM definately needs to speak out much more. In a war of words, he's a deadly opponent, especially when the truth and common sense are on his side!

It would be a mistake to let Liberals and NDPers control the debate over Afghanistan in the hopes that they will blurt out stupid remarks. They've already blurted out stupid remarks and their polling numbers don't go down at all. Like it or not, this mission is becoming linked in the perceptions of Canadians with the Conservative government. It is incumbent on Stephen Harper and International Affairs to get out their message about the mission.

So long as local papers continue to publish front page stories with headlines like "Why are we over there?", an ongoing dialogue with the public is the least Conservatives should be doing. Six years after we went in, that kind of headline should be subject to ridicule. People can agree or disagree about how long we should be involved over there, but it is terrible that Canadians are ignorant of the basic facts while they are being asked to make up their minds.

Thanks should go to the Liberal Party for keeping our involvement in Afghanistan below the radar for five years and not allowing even a minimum of debate on the issue before they handed off the reigns to the Conservatives. Canadians' lack of perspective about the mission can be directly attributed to their canny political instincts.
