|

| Quote: | Ontario MP Bruce Hyer quit the NDP caucus today, saying he can better represent his constituents as an Independent MP.
Hyer explained in a statement that his party's new leader, Tom Mulcair, had something to do with his decision, citing his policies and leadership approach as reasons for leaving the caucus.
The MP for Thunder Bay–Superior North said the "lockstep discipline" required by political parties leaves little room for meaningful public debate or for putting the interests of constituents ahead of party politics.
"Instead of co-operation and compromise, voters often see mindless solidarity, where political parties are always right and voters are always wrong," he said.
Hyer recently contradicted his party's position on the long-gun registry when he sided with the Conservatives in the final vote to end the registry in February. |

history seems to be repeating itself , a few years back we had a new opposition leader from quebec stephane dion and not soon after an mp from Thunder Bay Joe Comuzzi quit the liberals over various issues now we have another Thunder bay mp going rouge actually Bruce Hyer would of relaced Comuzzi so maybe it has something to do with the riding .
but was surprised and not surprised to see he had left the ndp as i didn't think he was going to support there position on the long gun registry . |

Its bad tact on behalf of Mulcair;
Hyer is pretty darn respected in Northern Ontario, and Northern Ontario is one of the few non-Quebec areas of growth the NDP has enjoyed. |
