|
|
| Quote: | The Action démocratique du Québec party (ADQ) is confirming its interest in forming a partnership with François Legault's new political party.
In a letter to his members released Monday night, ADQ leader Gérard Deltell writes he will start formal talks with Legault's Coalition for Quebec's Future (CAQ) after the party is officially launched on Nov. 14.
Deltell said his party and Legault have already had informal talks to see whether the two right-of-centre parties agree on policy.
Deltell will enter into formal discussions with Legault to see "if an alliance is possible based on shared ideas" between the two parties. |

Simply brilliant;
The Liberals in Quebec were in a pretty good situation;
They had to face off against a PQ, QS, ADQ, CAQ, and Option nationale who were all singing from a similar song sheet.
If the ADQ and the CAQ under François Legault become one party then Jean Charest is going to have some problems.
A new party under François Legault not only brings the ADQ and the rouge PQ MNA's together, it also stands a good chance to bring the rogue ADQ MNA's back into the fold.
This center-right party could very well start out of the blocks with 11 - 12 MNA's and a very personally popular leader in François Legault. |

| It was already thought he could have upwards to 11 MNAs when he announces the party. |

Assuming he gets addition defections from the PQ I suppose its possible, however I am not sure who those defections would be?
As it sits right now you have:
64 Liberals
46 PQ
4 ADQ
1 QS
1 Option nationale
8 Independents
1 Vacancy
Of the eight independents you have:
Éric Caire former ADQ
Marc Picard former ADQ
Tony Tomassi former Liberal (asked to leave party)
And of course the rogue PQ caucus of Louise Beaudoin, Lisette Lapointe, Pierre Curzi, Benoit Charette and René Gauvreau
Keeping in mind Jean-Martin Aussant who was a PQ rouge started his own party last week.
To the best of my knowledge I don't think any sitting PQ members have committed to the party? However I would imagine that the five existing MNA's who left the PQ would be the first members, and adding the four ADQ and two rouge ADQ members would be 11 MNA's out of the gate.
I would imagine 12 if François Legault runs in the Bonaventure by-election and wins. |

François Legault said they wouldn't be contesting the by-election.
I guess it's possible some Liberals may join his party. |

That is odd;
Because rightly or wrongly so if he plans to "lead" and an election is a year away he should be in the NA.
Liberals may defect; it could be interesting. |

I guess it's a time factor, it wouldn't look very good for him, or anyone, to run and lose when you're the perceived frontrunner. It has also been a Liberal stronghold. |

Bonaventure has been mostly Liberals sometimes PQ over the last few elections.
I guess its smart thinking to not run your leader in that riding, however they should contest it in some fashion? |
