While all else is happening in the world, the rat-bastard jihadists or some Muslim Brotherhood attacked our democratric ally, Israel. But Benjamin Netanyahu will not let them get away with this murder.

What is Behind the Terror Attacks

This analysis of today's terror attacks in southern Israel is provided by CIJA (Centre for Israel & Jewish Affairs), the advocacy arm of Canadian Jewish Federations.

First and foremost, our thoughts are with the victims of these horrific attacks, and we pray for a quick and full recovery for the wounded.

Today's series of terror strikes, which killed seven people and injured at least 31, reveal just how vulnerable Israelis remain to multi-faceted and interconnected threats throughout the region. They include decreased Egyptian security on the Sinai border, the deteriorating situation in Syria, and Hezbollah's unabated military build-up in south Lebanon.

Many experts have warned about the extent to which Iran and various terror groups are taking advantage of growing lawlessness in the Sinai, where Egypt is legally obligated to prevent acts of violence against Israel under the Camp David Accords. The terrorists involved in today's attacks originated from Gaza and infiltrated Israel via the Sinai. However, Hamas, which seized control of Gaza in a violent coup against the Palestinian Authority four years ago, bears responsibility for any attacks stemming from its territory.

The terror attacks also demonstrate the danger of supporting Palestinian Authority efforts to circumvent the peace process and escape its obligations by asking the United Nations to endorse Palestinian statehood. The result will likely be ongoing violence, instead of direct negotiations.

"President Abbas must return to the negotiation table, and the international community must hold those who violently oppose peace accountable for their actions," notes CIJA chair David Koschitzky.

"There can be little doubt of the sophisticated planning and training required to carry out this attack. The competence of the assailants indicates that their organizations are highly professional, well-trained and in possession of accurate intelligence about Israeli civilian traffic and military operations along the border with Egypt.

Without the benefit of surprise, Thursday’s attackers will be hard pressed to maintain their offensive in the coming days. But the possibility that the assault was just the opening round of a new irregular war emanating from Sinai cannot be ruled out. Unfortunately, due to the IDF’s institutional opposition to confronting emerging threats before they become deadly, Israel faces the prospect of escalated aggression from Sinai with no clear strategy for contending with the enemy actors operating in the peninsula.

This enemy system includes Hamas, Muslim Brotherhood, and al-Qaida-affiliated Islamic terror cells. It also includes the Egyptian military and security forces operating in the area, whose intentions towards Israel are at best unclear."
