Seems that Quebec's (foot in the mouth) 'distinctiveness' is growing toward another direction? Wasn't that Province one of the most Christian in Canada - at one time.
Cultural changes aren't always a result of changing attitudes and why is it that there are community leaders needlessly enabling this stifling change.
We have always had a 'public' Christmas in Canada and - it ought to stay that way.
Under the banner of 'inclusion' our traditional Canada is losing its character - more and more. Indiscriminate political correctness results in nothing but deeper community divisions and it encourages the ideas of "us and them" and otherwise brings out factionalism - not the all inclusive (false utopia) that the pushers of this program sell it with.
They must see that without 'tolerance' there can never be real 'inclusion'.
When I was a kid the Christmas decorations and the music were more important to me than any presents (yeah presents were cool too) as that was something special - decorating for God. I liked seeing the decorations 'everywhere' and - that is how it was - what was the harm? That some people who didn't celebrate it might not like it? They certainly weren't militant about it. They didn't 'protest' it!
Taking away 'our' traditions is really unfair to the majority that do want them...such Canadians ought to start to calculate that same 'political correctness' where possible? |

I know that you feel as though these traditions are pointless - because for you God is pointless - but consider this from another angle...these same 'all-inclusive' politically correct types who are making decisions about these matters - shall one day step on something 'important' to you. What form might that take? Hard to say now but as they surrender more ground...it's bound to manifest. |

And political correctness run a muck loses in the end:
| Quote: | By afternoon, the ban had been reversed by a federal minister who reassured Canadians that the Harper government did, in fact, like Christmas.
The backpedalling capped a day of denunciations, after the Quebec chief of Service Canada sent e-mails to employees telling them they could hang holiday decorations in their personal spaces, but not in areas serving the public. |
