Utah firing squad executes convicted killer

Looking at many of these comments by readers, I'm saddened. To call the death of this man barbaric is one heck of a stretch. Ronnie Lee Gardner shot one person, then shot another man in the face while in court for the first murder! And people have the nerve to call his execution barbaric??? That's rich!

Aren't there places in the Middle East where the victim's family get to choose the offenders fate after murder and other crimes? Would that not be called barbaric in many cases too? Because if someone shot my father or brother in the face, I'd do more than just shoot the person, or keep them in a cell!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he choose to be executed this way?

Yeah, he did. I find that odd that he'd have any say at all... But still, the guy deserved a lot more then what he got, IMHO.

I've heard of people being offered a choice; I don't think it's uncommon.

I got such a laugh a while back watching a debate on an internet video.

(I thought it was on YouTube but I might be mistaken because I can't find it again).

Anyway, the anti-death penalty lawyer (probably an ACLU scumbag) asked the death penalty proponent "Have you ever been present at and personally witnessed an execution?".

The death penalty proponent repiled "No, Have you?".

The lawyer started to harrumph & bluster because he had been bluffing and obviously had never attended an execution even though he wanted that to be implied by his question.

The D.P. proponent saw this an pushed it asking him again and again "Have YOU been to an execution?"

It was hilarious watching this low grade ambualnce chaser / pedophile protector squirm when his bluff didn't work.

In a weird and sick way, the guy does gain some celebrity and notoriety out of all this. He should have died like a criminal, without all the attention.
