was the claim that I was told on the farnwide blog. And I was also told to go do my homework. So, here I am.

First off that claim sounds pretty selective to me. Can anyone provide me with a the link to the group of 1000's of scientists that signed against the AGW issue. I figure that this is a moot point. But I would like to through that out there to him. Any other points would be of great help.

Thanks,

Rocky

The thing is, such a claim is not a provable statement without a definition of 'scientists'. They're making the claim, and it's up to them to provide the proof.

It's like claiming that 80% of politicians are corrupt - it might have the ring of truth to someone who agrees with the sentiment, but if someone were to dispute this I would have to back it up, explaining how I define politicians and corruption.

The 'concensus' argument has always suffered from this problem. You could teach a university course on logical fallacies with just the concensus argument.

Thanks, FF Canuck.

That is what I was trying to say, but I didn't say it as well as that.

I enjoy the use of the term "agree",

I think that 97% of Conservatives on this forum could agree that we not to cut spending, but of those 97% how many would agree as to where it needs to come from? Or how much needs to be cut?

During the Paris summit on the Environment scientists couldn't agree on the speed, the effects, the greater causes, or solutions.

The consensus is that is probably happening, and most likely caused by man.
That is where the consensus stops and starts,

Thanks for the help and the thoughts on the subject. I have just decided to let it go. I am not going to convince him nor is he going to convice me.
