I did not know that our military in Afghanistan get flown back to Canada in the same Airbus that the Prime Minister uses.

Have no idea if this has always been done - but those coming home are very impressed at the special treatment they received...

Some of them are returned in the air bus. The government of Canada owns several airbuses if I am not mistaken.

I believe you're right but I'm going from memory.

They own 5 CC-150 Polaris aircraft. One of which is in a VIP configuration for government travel, the rest can be fitted for cargo or passengers.

What's the big deal? It's flown by the military so when the PM doesn't need it or is flying in a smaller plane, the army uses it. Is is supposed to just sit in a hangar somewhere?

When I flew back from Kandhar last year it was on this particular Airbus and the steward gave us a tour of the PM's quarters because they were empty on the trip. It's not especially plush by first-class standards, although it does have a private shower and an array of comms gear.
