I am quite honestly confused of what kind of Conservative I am.. who knows I may be Liberal? :O Hopefully not though.
I could give you guys some things I support, I'm sorry if some contradict each other since I'm not exactly Savvy in ideologies.
Anyways here's what I support:
Limited to no government intervention in the economy;
Small government;
Government subsidized private company health care;
Low taxes;
Free market;
Free trade;
Balanced budget;
School choice;
Strong defensive military, but not world police;
Only tough on very serious crimes, no more war on drugs/victimless crimes;
Capital punishment for only the most dangerous (serial killers/terrorists);
Pro-Life;
Support gay-marriage;
Go by tradition (most of the time);
Don't really believe in all science and the scientific method;
Not very religious, but i go to church every christmas;
Support gun ownership rights;
Don't care to "save the planet" as much as I care about technological progression;
Nuclear Energy I support, but I'am open to other energy ideas ;
Welfare Reform;
EDIT: More things I should add so you can see what else I support.
Canadian Monarchist;
Patriotic;
Laissez-faire;
Opposed to increases in the minimum wage;
Being well known on the world stage;
And pretty much anything Conservative. :)

Looks pretty good to me, Jody. I don't agree with everything on your list, but I agree with a very solid majority of it. Actually, there's probably only one or two things that I don't agree with.
Also, you fit pretty nicely between Blue Tory and Red Tory. You're pretty much a straight down the middle Tory, imo... maybe with libertarian leanings, it could be said.
You're no Liberal, imo.
Anyway, welcome to the boards! |

Welcome Jody!
I agree with most of your opinions.
I think your views are pretty balanced, and I think many reflect those of a majority of Canadians, regardless of what the Liberals and NDP would like people to think. You are definitely not a Liberal. |

This is an unfortunate casualty of the man-made global warming hypothesis, falsely portrayed as the result of a scientific "consensus".
As someone who learned and used the scientific method (M.Sc.), let me tell you that it is still the most rigorous way to go for analyzing a situation, separating facts from beliefs, and developing free thought. |

Lol, thanks with the warm welcoming. :D
No I am not a female in Winnipeg. :P
So a Conservative Libertarian, eh? :P or a Red/Blue Tory. Hmm... I guess that's ok, a bit surprised. But most of my friends say I'm a Fiscal Conservative as well. So basically I'm a Conservative Libertarian/Fiscal Conservative? xD |

| To be Libertarian is to be fiscally conservative. A Conservative Libertarian is somewhat socially conservative, I think. I could be wrong though... |

Conservatives tend to be more traditionalist, advocating for the preservation of established institutions and traditional practices/ values. In the US that would mean strictly adhering to principles of the American constitution and in Canada it would mean favouring traditional institutions such as the monarchy, our parliamentary system, religious institutions. etc...
Fiscal conservatism is something that both Libertarians and Conservatives share, so there really isn't a category such a conservative libertarian. The differences tend to be on moral and ethical issues. |

The reason folks like myself specify conservative libertarian is because there are a sect of progressives who call themselves libertarians. They cherrypicked the aspects of libertarianism which they liked (freedom of choice, harm principle) but rejected those which they don't like (enhanced personal responsibility). They're not fiscally conservative whatsoever.

Can someone please tell me what Libertarian is? Like where they stand on the spectrum, their social issues, fiscal issues... etc..
So I'm either Conservative, or Libertarian.. or both. You decide! with some of my help of course. :) Cuz I really have no idea what a Conservative Libertarian even is. |
