"No matter the real reason for Willerton's decision to quit, the result will be disappointing to the Dyrholm campaign, who will not see a significant rise in supporters - Jeff Willerton simply didn't have many to give."
Good post! Quite frankly, I've always been mystified as to where Willerton got the $10,000 nomination fee for the race, seeing as how he travelled around the province with his whole campaign team on a motorcycle.

This is a relief to me. Danielle Smith is still my first choice because of her perceived electability and, and I think Dyrholm would be very useful within the party - I spoke to one of his volunteers on the phone and we see eye to eye on many issues - but Willerton added little and was, quite frankly, a risk to the party.
I certainly admired his dedication to the province of Alberta and his resistance to federal interference, but if he ever played a prominent role in the party, I fear it would be forever stuck in obscurity and firmly in the "fringe" category of political parties. He seems like the kind of guy who might do more for the conservative movement (especially the social conservative movement) as an independent lobbyist or writer. In any case, I wish him luck in his future endeavours.
