civil war does break out again. It certainly seems like that is what Iran, Syria, and the Hezzies are pushing for. Do we once more organize another evacuation for all those Canadian "citizens" over there? You know, all the ones we helped free of charge last summer and have since returned. Maybe we should send them a bill this time.

The coup is coming, all intelligent people should know that by now. Anyone who does not see the signs, or refuses to get out should be left to their own devices. These are adults, the government is not their mother or father. Their safety is up to them. Last time was a surprise. This time around it won't be.

I hope the Canadian government and DFAIT send a message to all those "Lebonese-Canadians" who are back in Lebanon to say they're on their own. Let's not waste another taxpayer dime rescuing "citizens of convenience" from their own folly.

It's amazing that the crisis has shown Canada is not perfect.

Quote:
Elias Hanna, a retired Lebanese Army general, said of the Israeli allegations, “Of course there are hidden invisible tunnels, bunkers of missile launchers, bunkers of explosive charges amongst civilians.”

He added: “You cannot separate the southern society from Hezbollah, because Hezbollah is the society and the society is Hezbollah. Hezbollah is holding this society together through its political, military and economic services. It is providing the welfare for the south.”

Asked whether Hezbollah should be seen as responsible for the deaths of Lebanese civilians in the war, he replied: “Of course Hezbollah is responsible. But these people are ready to sacrifice their lives for Hezbollah. If you tell them, ‘Your relative died,’ they will tell you ‘No, he was a martyr.’ The party’s military preparations from 2000 till 2006 took place in their areas. They were of course done with complete secrecy, but in accordance with the civilians.”

This paints a fairly grim picture. If true, it means that the Lebanese know that Hezbollah uses them, and likes it that way.

It tells you of the cowardice of the Leb gov't in not enforcing their laws on their radical own in their own borders. It sickens me they don't do squat after years of syrian occupation.
