i must say i have been less impressed with his coverage of politics in recent months and years . his coverage has drifted to the left and came with an anti-cpc tone in recent months . i can't say i'm too disappointed in hearing he is retiring .

Co-Sign.

Don really outed himself as a CPC hater during the Coalition coup. The sad thing is, that is the best you are going to get from CBC when it comes to politics..

the coalition experience was a low point of his career or coverage i really though , for someone who was so respected going into it , the coverage from him that came out of that crisis was nothing short of embarrassing .

Newman really showed his stripes during that situation. That's all I will say, he is on his way out so.....

I don't think Susan Bonner will become the host even though I have seen that she fills in quite a bit when the old guy is away. Actually, my friend who actually watches this show said that a guy named Chris Hall has filled in before and he's a breath of fresh air from the older, boring political hosts (i.e. Newman, Duffy, Oliver).

Good Call on Chris Hall(yes I know that rhymes  ). He is always on the friday pundit panel and is some what fair. good call 905.. 8)

Absolutely. It would be worth it!

I wonder if Lowell Green would consider a change of career?

If the CBC got someone who was centre right the ratings would go thru the roof.

Duf used to out veiwer old stone face 2 to one.

Never happen as the CBC is stuck in a 1970's Trudeau paradigm and are truly useless at fair reporting.

CBC's political coverage over the last year has left me changing the channel anyway.

May as well make George Stroumboulopoulos host for all that I have been watching for the last little while.

I liked Newman, but I just find that over the last year every media outlet has picked a side of the political spectrum and done all they can to make it clear to the viewer we are left and love it,

I did the same, I like Adler, but I voted for him more for sarcasm and my lack of knowlege about the other people in the poll and I rarely watch CBC news.

How about Andrew Coyne. He's a libertarian. That's pretty close to being a Liberal isn't it. :P
