Apparently so.
They now lead the majors in pretty much all of the hitting stats - the Blue Jays!!
It's early days, and given how rookie-laden the pitching staff is, it's hard to get too optimistic.
But it goes to show how much an experienced coaching staff -- i.e. people who know how to coach and win in the Majors -- can change the complexion of a team. |

| It's nice to see Gaston back where he belongs but I wouldn't become too optimistic about their hitting. I fully expect a very possibility that the Jays will finish last this year. I wouldn't discount the Jays beiong the worst team in baseball either. So it has been time for the past three or four years to see JP fired, & replaced. It's ashame to see the Jays this way because I believe that they are capable of being in the top money bracket if you hire the right owners. Also isn't it time to at least plan a new stadium already, the Skydome was a marvel of it's time but now please move on already. |

The Dome is not even 20 years old, and there have been a lot of improvements in and around the stadium.
As for the owners, Rogers was the only local owner to want to buy the team. If it were not for Rogers, the team would be in the United States by now.
As for the team itself, it is great to see them get off to great starts. Their problems in the past have been slow Aprils and Mays. Let’s hope they can continue the hitting parade, and keep up with the solid pitching. It is time to get playoff baseball back here in Toronto. |

I just hope they can be on a consistent winning streak. I think their goal is to win 2 out of the three, or 3 out of the four games in a series. |

They have a strange schedule this year in that they don't start to play the Rays, Sox, Orioles or the Yankees until mid-May. They'll be finished with most of the West and the Central by that time, which is not necessarily a bad thing given how poorly they have done when playing away games against those teams.
However, it's only when their pitching gets stress tested by hard hitting teams -- the Rangers series that's going on now, for example -- that we'll know how the season will unfold.
So far, so good. Something else to consider -- the Blue Jays are 61-41 under Cito's tenure since the middle of last year. If they can consistently win 60% of their games, they have a shot at the wild-card. |

I think the Jays may be the real deal this year.

The O's are the weak team of the east. If the Jays can handle the Yanks & the Sox then they are for real.
BTW it's time to move Cleveland o the east & the Jays to the central, those who claim it's a great lakes thing are thinking stupid because Toronto is a great lakes team which makes it a mute point on that subject. |

I agree the Yanks and the Sox's tilts coming up are key. But the Jays problem over the past few years is beating the weak teams.
No way Toronto should move from the East, frankly Tampa Bay should go to the central and Detroit should come back to the East. I grew up on the Jays, all I know is the East. I miss Detroit being in the division.
Anyway, I am very pumped about this season. |

| It was a crime that Cito had to wait this long to get another managers gig. |

Cleveland is further west than Detroit. I agree that the Rays should move to the West, and the Tigers back to the East. The Jays/Tigers rivalry in the 1980’s and 1990’s was amazing, as was the Jays/Royals, unfortunately for the Royals; they have not had a good team in awhile. |

| Nine games going on ten tonight for straight losses, the Blue Jays look like the Montreal Expos of recent times before they moved to Washington. Things are looking very bleak. I wish they would fire JP's ***. |

It is not looking good. Doc does not even pitch in this tilt with Boston.
9 game losing streak, I guess you could call that nosedive.. :( |
