Additionally...

There is new theory emerging that suggests through considerable evidence that, over the long term, cosmic energy originating from the core of the galaxy, itself in cycles spanning thousands of years, is alternately mitigated and amplified by similarly long cycles of solar radiation activity, which, when plotted again on graphs, seems to indicate plausible explanations for alternating ice ages and their converse climate conditions.

At the end of the day, it seems that the earth's climate is first and foremost subject to the greatest influence on the planet, that being...

Hold on to your hats here, because this is majorly shocking stuff...

The Sun!

As in: "Well, DUH!!!!"

All CO2 levels amount to is merely one more means of measuring that influence.

Unfortunately, there's not thing one anyone can do about the Sun.

...more to the point, make a fast buck on it.

You are missing something here Rusty. A factory should be charged because they are pumping out tonnes of Co2 a year? How many tonnes of Co2 do you pump out a year Rusty? They will be charging you for exhaling, next. They could have picked on oxygen, after all it is an oxidant. Co2 isn't even that. And those factories, they provide us with things that we want to buy and provide people with jubs. Did you want to give up working and buying things you need?

What everyone seems to be missing is that C02 is not pollution. The exhaust released from factories can be made cleaner than now with scrubbers. It is much cleaner that it used to be. I remember waking up black from an inversion overnight in Windsor. That was in the 70's. The factory exhaust was dirty then. It is not now and can be cleaner. I am horified at the pictures of China, black from the exhaust of their factories. They are not worried about how dirty the exhaust is, they are just trying to make money and live better.

If Co2 levels started declining now, we would still be left with overfull landfills, dirty streams and lakes, as well as with a cooling climate and no abiltity to heat our homes, create light, grow food, have jobs or merchandise to buy. That is not a future I ever want to see.
