"Duff Conacher of Democracy Watch said he wants the ethics commissioner to investigate whether Harper and Finance Minister Jim Flaherty violated rules that require all federal politicians to act "with honesty."

That's utterly insane. If such a precedent were established, no party would ever again publish a campaign platform. Or bother campaigning, for that matter.

The Canadian Taxpayer Federation tried taking McGuinty to court of the "no new taxes" promise but the courts ruled that politicians can't be held to campaign promises.

Looks like DW doesn't have any grounds thanks to that precident.

IMO, DW has lost a lot of credibility over this and their opposition to the Accountability act.

Duff Conacher must be getting desperate for attention. Under the Liberals, there was always something for him to complain about. Now, under the Conservatives, he has to search for material. If this sort of thing keeps up, Duff might have to get a real job!! :roll:
