PLEASE bring on an election. Harper. Figure out a surefire way to bring the government down already!

Waiting out this mandate will only play into the Liberals hands. Or could it get worse for them???

BREAKING NEWS! Harper passed fixed election date legislation. He meant it then, and he means it now.

THERE WILL BE NO ELECTION THIS YEAR.
THERE WILL BE NO ELECTION THIS YEAR.

Harper does not want an early election. Harper does not want an early election. Harper has never wanted an early election. Harper will not want an early election in the future. What Harper wants is for memories of Liberal governments to become a distant memory.

Harper wants to govern. I repeat Harper wants to govern.

Harper is making some BOLD MOVES in Quebec to re-claim the BLOC seats formerly held by Mulroney's crew.

Opening the constitution... IF the Quebeckers help the Conservatives claim a majority. To do this, Conservatives might need at least half of the current Bloc seats. (Bloc have 48 seats currently)... gaining an additional 24+ seats from Quebec would be nice...

Interesting article.

Might as well reopen Pandors's box. If there ever is another constitutional round the amendments better not have time limits on getting them passed. If they do they will never get past. A constitutional amendment like the Quebceois are a nation within Canada might get passed in 50 years of wrangling with ever changing provincial governments. Leave it on the table open forever along with the triple e senate and Indian nation's etc. the conditions may exist at some point for people to compromise. Putting a time limit on these things is like putting a gun to the head of the country. People don't like it.

Rather than re-opening the Constitution in an attempt to repair some of it's glaring flaws and omissions, I've always thought the best "first step" would be to create an amending formula as a way to allow Ottawa and the provinces to introduce single issue "repairs" much like was done in the US.

we already have an amending formula. It was designed by Trudeau so that no one would ever be able to touch his legacy on any way.

Then that's the first thing to be amended.
